This is America

A full display of American arrogance was revealed on NBC's "Meet the Press" in an interview of Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Viktorovich Lavrov, presented in full by APT.

Before Trump Walked Out, Watch How Lavrov Handled the Same NBC Host - | - APT - June 8, 2026

[APT summary] "In August 2025, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov sat down with NBC's Kristen Welker for a wide-ranging and often tense interview on Meet the Press. Facing tough questions about Russia's military campaign in Ukraine, civilian casualties, peace negotiations, Vladimir Putin, Donald Trump, and Moscow's relationship with the West, Lavrov defended Russia's position while responding to direct challenges from the host.
This full interview has drawn renewed attention following President Donald Trump's contentious June 2026 interview with the same host and network, leading many viewers to compare how both men handled difficult questioning under pressure.
Watch the complete conversation and decide for yourself."

For my readers with hearing issues, try to follow along with either the CC enabled or "transcript" enabled, but even with those aids, you can't get the loud, blatant insolence by the interviewer, except perhaps by the stony facial expressions.

Here are just a couple telling points:

10:09- LAVROV: "Tristen, I am awfully sorry, you're not listening"
13:09- LAVROV: "... when we come to a stage [in negotiations] when you have to sign documents, we would need a very clear understanding by everybody that the person who is signing is legitimate and according to the Ukrainian Constitution and Mr. Zelenekyy is not at the moment"
13:32- WELKER: [in a put-down] "Well, he is the democratically elected president." [and immediately] "Mr. Foreign Minister, let's keep moving."

Now if tRump stayed on a couple years after his term expired, would he still be considered the "democratically elected president"?

In this interview, here is "America" on full display. Imagine Kristen Welker engaged in diplomatic negotiations while being this propagandized. Yet this is EXACTLY the mindset of EVERY person sent in as a U.S. negotiator, and is the exact mindset of EVERY member of government in ALL these Western nations - U.S., EU and especially, Canada.

I can't see one word in there where Mr. Lavrov said one false statement, not even one instance of "flexible truth" yet every utterance from the interviewer's mouth carried a large burden of Western lies. The lack of respect was appalling, as was the refusal to consider the importance of anything Mr. Lavrov said. This is NOT journalism. Real journalism would have asked meaningful questions to bring out the interviewees thoughts, and let the viewers decide what to believe, instead of just pounding him with outright Western lies.

Thus actual diplomacy is impossible - there is no trust, not even a hint of recognizing any validity to the "other side." If Western mouthpieces ever acknowledged any validity to Russia's claims, they would have to ask themselves: "Then why are we supporting Ukraine?" and that is a forbidden question.

Over and over, Mr. Lavrov tried to explain the exact history, the exact historical context, but it was as if he was talking to himself, nobody was home in the other chair.
